Our Lady Gaga absent from the red carpet

Absent from the Grammys red carpet was our Lady of Pop, Lady Gaga. Sadsies, I wonder why she skipped the carpet. Maybe to avoid egg-pod comparisons. Or maybe at the annual pop music summit, it was decided on a coin flip and a dance-off that Nicki Minaj would wear the crazy outfit this year.

Adele: One and Only – Magazine – Vogue

A great article from Vogue interviewing Adele in December 2011, before she won 6 Grammys.

“ ‘Chasing Pavements’ came from me running down Oxford Street. I had punched my ex in a pub and then ran away from security. And then I just kept running even though they weren’t chasing me anymore. I was running from something. And I didn’t know what. I was just chasing a pavement. And I was like, Ka-ching! I will get my record-deal money now! And then with ‘Rolling in the Deep,’ there’s a gang phrase in the U.K., roll deep, that basically means having someone have your back so you are never on your own if you come into trouble. It’s a real gangster thing, but I think it’s really beautiful. So I just turned it into ‘Rolling in the Deep.’ ”

Grammy fashion hits, misses and hot messes

HIT: Taylor Swift in Zuhair Murad

Taylor Swift was impeccably dressed and styled. This girl is getting some really good fashion and style advice, or she just has an eye for great pieces.

HIT: Adele in Armani

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Adele’s look for the Grammys. Her hair looks a little lighter than usual and it’s shorter. It’s fresh, much like her return to music. The lipstick and earrings compliment the gorgeous dress. I love long dresses so much, and hers looks glamourous and absolutely perfect for all the Grammys she’s gonna take home!!

Hit: Rihanna in Armani

HOT HOT HOT. Rihanna looked confident and very sexy in the Versace dress she helped design. The plunging neckline shows off her killer abs (holy moly!) Stunning.

Hit: Jessie J in Julien MacDonald

I loved this look immediately when I saw it. It’s shiny, fun and perfect for the Grammys! Jessie J definitely did good at her first Grammy awards.

Miss: Robyn

Robyn’s outfit is very much her. I think the shoes are pretty cool, and the dress is cool too, but not for the Grammys. But to be honest, it looked a lot better on camera than in a photo, because in the photo, her “train” looks a little an unraveled roll of fabulous toilet paper. And the t-shirt top is a little confusing as well. But fuck it, Robyn rocks.

Miss: Katy Perry

The dress is really pretty, but her hair ruins this look. It’s not so much the color, but the poofy updo. Also, the dress is kind of a preview into pastel colors for spring, but it would be better suited in an old Florence and the Machine video than the 2012 Grammys.

Miss: Fergie in Jean-Paul Gaultier

Oh, sweet Fergie Ferg. She always wants so bad to be the wild card fashionista of the night, but she always, always falls short. The silhouette of the lace dress is gorgeous, and the color is simply spectacular. There’s just something off about this outfit. It could be her timid-ish attitude, or her hair and earrings paired with the visible lingerie. Because really, if you’re going to wear this outfit, you better have the fucking personality to pull it off.

Hot Mess: Taraji P. Henson

This is my worst dressed pick. Oh my God. This looks like something straight from a small town prom. The cut and fabric look so bad in photos, I wonder if the dress was better in person. I won’t hold my breath. There are just so many things that are wrong with this dress. She could have look so so so much better. Fire your stylist, now! (And good God, if you don’t have one, get one)

HOT MESS: Nicki Minaj’s Catholic Grammys

Yes, it was daring and it definitely got the people going, but I despised Nikki Minaj’s outfit and Pope date. First of all, it looks like a cape 3 sizes too big for her. Yes, Versace is a genius but good lord, that was more fit for a midnight showing of Lord of the Rings over the Grammys. Also, why Catholic? Is she creeping in on Lady Gaga and Madonna’s affliction for bad catholic girls? I’m ALL FOR exciting and strange Grammy outfits, but this one is just confusing.

Host: LL Cool J

LL Cool J did a fantastic job hosting the Grammys! He was calm, cool and collected. A perfect pick for host. Good job Cool!

I LOVE Mary’s fitted striped dress. And I wanna start wearing regal gloves. Yeah?!

I tend to lean more towards Mary’s style, she always has the best dresses and outfits.

Maggie Smith is perfect in this show! What an icon. (I miss her as Professor McGonagall)

I love the hunting dogs, they totally steal the show.

I really wish men (and women for that matter) would ditch the hoodies and dress like this. Come on, Target! Give us an affordable regal line, please! Or at least H&M. That would ROCK.

Fashion: Kitty swimwear, nuff said

OBSESSED!

No, it’s not swimwear for your cat. They hate water silly!

This amazing cat swimwear is brought to you by Wildfox. They should definitely come out with calico and orange cat ones. A black cat would be way fierce too.

Fashion: Geri Halliwell’s Union Jack line

Yes please! Photo via Getty Images

YES YES YES YES!!!!

My 8-year-old Christmas list consisted of witch’s potion, magic spells, and Spice Girls clothes. Well, one of them has come true. FINALLY.

Geri Halliwell, formerly Ginger Spice or the one who left the group and subsequently ended my childhood innocence, is coming out with her own line of Union Jack clothes for Next. “The Union Jack dress was my favorite stage outfit and with everything that is happening this year such as the Olympics and the Jubilee it just felt the right time to design an updated version of the dress for my range with Next.”

They BETTER sell this stuff at H&M or Urban Outfitters. It’s our collective childhood dreams come true. Now all we need are some sick platforms and 4 friends to get this shit started. Girl Power, woooooo!!!!!!

Can we get a big designer to do an actual Spice Girls-inspired line? I would spend my yearly salary on it. Which isn’t saying much, but I would regardless.

Remember how everyone always wanted to be Baby? I had a sports bra so I had to be Sporty. She’s great and all, but I’m girly as fuck so it didn’t gel. But if you had a blonde friend, they “had to be baby”. Jerks! And now I just want to be all of them. So I will be. Ahh. the joys of growing up.

Here’s “Say You’ll Be There” for your nostalgic enjoyment.

It Girl: Rooney Mara

Our new favorite it girl, Rooney Mara in Vogue. Photo via vogue.com

Things are only getting better for Rooney Mara. Not only is she an Oscar nominee for her portrayal as Lisbeth Salander in Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, but her family’s football team the New York Giants just won the Superbowl. Oh, and her fashion choices at awards season have her in just about ever fashion magazine and blog imaginable.

If that show “Best Week Ever” was still on, she would definitely be having it (waaaaay over the New York Giants even, because that game was boring as shit and got upstaged by the Queen herself, Madonna). Or at least she is having a best 3 month arch. Now all she needs is to meet the man of her dreams who is nothing like any famous person ever (because they all get divorced and that’s not the fairytale!), win the Best Actress Oscar, and be on every fashion magazine across the world. And solve cancer. With her cheekbones. And edgy style.

I also really like that she was the girl who turned down Zuckerberg in The Social Network, because he seems like the kind of person who should be dumped. (Keep selling our info, you billionaire hussy!)

She even got all those piercings for her role in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, including getting her nipple pierced. It’s so refreshing to know that out of the billions of flash-in-the-pan, up-and-coming celebrity actresses, one of them is un-vainly capable of actually committing to the role fully, without nudity and hairstyle clauses. Commitment is so fucking hot.

At the annual Oscars nominees luncheon (oh to by a fly on that wall), Mara had this to say about keeping her nipple piercing. “I don’t want to re-pierce it should we do the other two films.” Hot! I wish I had a work obligation to get a nipple piercing. Some girls have all the luck.

It is also impressive that her most famous character to date, Lisbeth Salander, is echoing throughout the promotion of the movie and awards season. You can see Lisbeth influence her hair, wardrobe and attitude throughout various appearances. Her appearance is becoming a sort of parallel reality with her character, which is an amazing way to promote the movie and her career as an all-encompassing actress.

Her next big big big event will be the Academy Awards (one of my favorite nights of the year. So many celebs, who’s gonna be the shining stahhhh?!) I, along with everyone starved for a not drug-addicted person to watch in Hollywood, am very excited to see what Mara will wear to the Academy Awards airing February 26th. Good luck, gurlfren.

Blonde Ambition Tour

Madonna in Jean-Paul Gaultier for her 1990 Blonde Ambition Tour. Phenom! Photo via madonnafansworld.over-blog.com

Madonna obsession starting now. LOVE HER. I feel guilty I ever doubted her, or thought she was being mean to Lady GaGa. Shame on me. Madonna, the one, the Queen, the only. Nobody does it like Madonna.
