Musical launch in London. Image via

This is so exciting! A Spice Girls musical! They are walking in the footsteps of Abba with Mamma Mia. Pop music really does well on a stage. Let’s hope this time they all don’t crap out on it somehow, like they did with their reunion world tour. Granted, the girls aren’t actually in the musical, but still. They always find a way to butt heads with each other in a totally 90s tabloid sort of way.

“Scary is NOT speaking to Ginger!” instead of “Kim Kardashian televised a fake wedding and used to get peed on by Brandy’s brother!” is so, so tame it’s almost forgettable.

PS they all look REALLY good. I will always prefer their 90s clothing though. I hope the costumes in the musical are fucking SICK. Platforms and union jacks for everyone!

Madonna covers Gaga’s “Born This Way” on MDNA tour!!!!

Madonna and Gaga on SNL. Love them. Image via

HOLY SHIZ. The Queen of the Pop universe mashed together her amazing hit “Express Yourself” with Mother Monster’s similarly chord-progressioned love hit “Born This Way.” So very cool of Madonna, because it’s both an honor for Madonna to sing your song in concert AND a little “hey bitch, that’s MY chord progression. And everyone WILL know it.” I love my pop queens. Fucking fabulous. Watch it here on perez!!

I don’t know when or why or how I began listening to St. Vincent, but a blessed moment it was. Annie Clark is St. Vincent, and if you haven’t met her quite yet, she is a fabulous and very talented woman.

Multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, pretty gal.

I started with her second disc, Actor, which is phenomenal. “The Neighbors” and “The Strangers” are my all time favorite St. Vincent songs, and they come off this album. It’s worth a Pandora or Grooveshark stream, and definitely worth a purchase.

Check out St. Vincent albums here

Her first album is titled Marry Me, which was reported as being named after the Arrested Development story arc when Maeby becomes a movie producer, and uses the catch phrase ‘marry me’ with all the Hollywood execs. If that doesn’t win you over, then you sir are a mouthful.

Her latest album, Strange Mercy is an amazing, creative collection of songs ripe with guitar shreds and sweet tunes. My favorite songs on this album are “Northern Lights” and “Cruel”.

St. V, to my utmost jubilation, is going on tour!!! 2012 is shaping up to be tremendous already. I hope she’s coming to your city.
