Music: St. Vincent was so KICK ASS

St Vincent First Avenue May 12, 2012
LOVE HER SO MUCH. Heavenly! Image via ME

That girl can seriously fuck around with a guitar. No joke.

The St. Vincent concert on a fanciful Saturday night (May 12) at First Ave was so so so cool. Annie was amazing to watch on stage. The way she played the guitar looked as cool as anybody could look playing guitar. Her hair was beautiful and curly, and moved around as she shredded the guitar like one mothafuckin’ lady. She seriously slayed. If you ever have a chance to see her, GO. The voice, the instrumentation, the everything is solid gold.

The crowd that night, however, was so LAME. WAY too much plaid, way too many people who don’t dance or move at concerts. Um, hello!! If you’re at a rock show, you dance and jump around. How would you feel performing for a bunch of non-moving, plaid and fake glasses-wearing hipstas? St. Vincent even jumped into the crowd for some crowd surfin’ acción, and they DROPPED HER. Either everyone was really stoned on bad/very chill weed or they were nervous, awkward concert virgins who didn’t know you should get drunk at rock shows. Patches of people on the crowd were having a good time though, as were my friends and I. Dance on your own if nobody else is, I say!

Take a listen to this little piece of heaven. Seriously, she melts me.

LOVE HER! Her new video for “Cheerleader” shows St. Vincent as a giant art exhibit who breaks free. She looks heavenly as always!

Do you have your St. Vincent tickets yet?!

This is WAY cool: St. Vincent to guest on Gossip Girl

I can’t believe St. Vincent, our beloved Annie Clark is going to be on Gossip Girl. It was cool enough when they got Lady Gaga and Lizzie Mcguire to be on their show, but this is just way too cool.

The episode featuring St. Vincent is going to air February 13, the Valentine’s day episode. I have to be honest: I haven’t been watching Gossip Girl. I should just turn in my life card right now. I turned away from Gossip Girl during… season 4 I believe. When Georgina was conning Dan into raising her baby that he thought was his… it was a little weird and far-fetched. Even for GG. +1 for Kristen Bell being Gossip Girl though. She is SO EFFING COOL.

Now I hear Blair got a royal wedding and maybe, probably something dramatic happened there as well. You’d think they’d chill out and sit down once in a while and watch Netflix. But that would be boring television. Plus they need to show off their fabulous wardrobes. The stylist on that show is beyond fabulous.

St. Vincent will be playing her songs “Cruel” and “Cheerleader” off her latest album Strange Mercy. The album is awesome, and I bought tickets last weekend for her spring tour which I am mondo excited for. Plus they were only 20 bucks. Annie knows we are living on a 20something poor and fabulous budget. She is a queen.

She will also be on an upcoming episode of the brilliant Portlandia, where “the dream of the 90s is alive in Portland.”

Yay for Annie!!!!!!!

I don’t know when or why or how I began listening to St. Vincent, but a blessed moment it was. Annie Clark is St. Vincent, and if you haven’t met her quite yet, she is a fabulous and very talented woman.

Multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, pretty gal.

I started with her second disc, Actor, which is phenomenal. “The Neighbors” and “The Strangers” are my all time favorite St. Vincent songs, and they come off this album. It’s worth a Pandora or Grooveshark stream, and definitely worth a purchase.

Check out St. Vincent albums here

Her first album is titled Marry Me, which was reported as being named after the Arrested Development story arc when Maeby becomes a movie producer, and uses the catch phrase ‘marry me’ with all the Hollywood execs. If that doesn’t win you over, then you sir are a mouthful.

Her latest album, Strange Mercy is an amazing, creative collection of songs ripe with guitar shreds and sweet tunes. My favorite songs on this album are “Northern Lights” and “Cruel”.

St. V, to my utmost jubilation, is going on tour!!! 2012 is shaping up to be tremendous already. I hope she’s coming to your city.
